Basketball: 2009 Showcase Tonight at Centreville

The best Northern Region boys and girls basketball players will take center stage at Centreville this Saturday in the second-annual DigitalSports Basketball Showcase.

The Beltway will take on the ‘Burbs as the Showcase features the official Northern Region boys’ and girls’ all-star games, a boys’ and girls’ 3-point shootout and a dunk contest.

We will also feature a fan contest to crown the official No. 1 fan base in the Northern Region. Attendance will be taken at the door and winners will be announced at 7 p.m. So wear your school colors and come out and support your school’s participants. (Prizes for the largest student-cheering section will include a free T-shirt and a free appetizer courtesy of Glory Days Restaurant!)

The Showcase will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m. and entrance fee is $6, which will include a program for every fan.

The event will be announced by Jerome Hruska, official voice of the Washington Nationals.


2009 Itinerary

Saturday, March 21 at Centreville HS

Participants should check in at 4 p.m.
**Doors will open to the public at 5 p.m.

5:30-5:40 Boys’ and Girls’ 3-Point Shootout Quarterfinals (Preliminaries will be held earlier in the day to determine final eight contestants.)

5:45-5:55 Dunk Contest — First Round (Competitors will go, one-at-a-time in layup lines, and do as many dunks as they can. As determined by judges, the top four will advance to the final round.)

5:55-6:05 Warm up for the girls’ Northern Region All-Star game

6:05-7:20 Girls’ Northern Region All-Star game (Game will consist of two, 15-minute halves.)

7:20-7:25 Girls’ All-Star game medals and MVP trophy awarded

7:25-7:35 Three-Point Shootout Semifinals/Finals/Championship (The boys’ and girls’ champion will go head-to-head in the finale!)

7:35-7:40 Trophy presentation for the boys’ and girls’ 3-Point Shootout winners

7:40-7:55 Dunk Contest — Finals (Final 4 participants gets three dunks each, in a rotating format, with :30 seconds to complete the dunk.)

7:55-8:00 Trophy presentation for the Dunk Contest winner and runner-up

8:00-8:10 Warm up for the boys’ Northern Region All-Star game

8:10-9:25 Boys’ Northern Region All-Star game (Game will consist of two, 15-minute halves.)

9:25-9:30 Boys’ All-Star game medals and MVP trophy awarded
